InfoMinder and RSS Syndication

InfoMinder 2.0 beta now supports a feature called RSS Syndication. I will take a shot at explaining what it is and why it is a feature worth checking out.
You are used to InfoMinder sending you email alerts when the pages you track change. Starting with this new version, you can elect to receive an RSS Feed in addition to your email alert. RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It is an XML format for generating content. There are several tools that can take an RSS feed and display them. In fact, all the blogs use RSS for storing the blog entries. You can find out more here.
Here are some of the benefits of using RSS feeds.
1. You can share alerts with others more easily. You can give them your feed URL or syndicate it to an intranet or internet web site.
2. You can use a feed aggregator like BlogLines. This will allow you to store and search feeds. Many of these aggregators allow you to keep old entries. Using this feature, you may be able to accumulate alerts.
3. Instead of sending out emails with the changes to others, you can store these changes in an intranet site.
Setting up InfoMinder to produce RSS feeds is very simple. All you need to do is to choose Preferences and click on RSS Syndication.
